Winter Grading
Marist Hockey is committed to an open and fair process for the selection of teams and the identification of development players. Marist Hockey conducts grading of players annually on Club Day in early March each year.
The 2023 Club Day was held on Saturday 4 March 2023.
From time to time, Marist Hockey may schedule an additional grading session before the commencement of the season.
Grading is based on a skills matrix. During competitive selections, a player will participate in a number of drills and a trial match to assess their skills. Player performance will be observed and assessed by a number of selectors.
In forming teams, Marist Hockey may also take other factors into consideration including performance in prior seasons, input from previous coaches and the spread of numbers across teams.
Any queries regarding grading or requests for feedback should be directed to the Development Officer.
Team structure and playing with friends
Marist Hockey cannot take requests to play in teams with friends. Marist Hockey will determine team makeup based on the best team combinations possible with a focus on competitiveness and player development.
